GeoFire Solar Projects Strategically Aligned with Full ITC Benefits Under New Federal Legislation
Rome, Georgia — GeoFire Solar, LLC announced today that its pipeline of community solar projects is positioned to capitalize on the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) incentives outlined in the recently enacted One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), signed into law on July 4, 2025. The new legislation establishes updated timelines and requirements for renewable energy projects seeking to qualify for the full 30% federal ITC.
Under the OBBBA:
- Projects that begin construction before July 3, 2026, and are placed in service within four years are eligible for the full ITC.
- Projects that begin construction after July 3, 2026, must be placed in service by December 31, 2027, to qualify.
GeoFire Solar’s active development pipeline includes multiple community solar installations scheduled to begin construction by June 2026, with all expected to be placed in service by the end of 2027—positioning them to fully qualify for the 30% ITC under either timeline. Additional projects in the pipeline are on track to be placed in service by the December 31, 2027, deadline.
“The One Big Beautiful Bill Act presents both challenges and opportunities. We believe the OBBBA clears up uncertainty in the tax equity market, which is exactly what developers and investors need at this stage of the cycle,” said Zach Grabill, President of GeoFire Solar. “Thanks to our advanced permitting and interconnection progress—and the fact that some of our projects are already under construction—we’re in an ideal position to deliver investor value while staying well within the OBBBA guidelines. State-level incentives further strengthen the economics of our projects.”
GeoFire Solar is currently developing over 18.5 MW of community solar across Maryland and Massachusetts, serving low-to-moderate-income households and small businesses with fixed, long-term electricity rates under robust state community solar programs. The company is also underwriting an additional 120 MW of projects, all expected to qualify for the full federal ITC
