Somerset County, MD — October 17, 2025 — GeoFire Solar, LLC (“GeoFire”) is proud to announce the acquisition of Somerset County Solar, LLC, a 2.8-megawatt (MW) commercial-scale solar facility located in Somerset County, Maryland. The project will participate in Maryland’s Community Solar Program and is scheduled for completion in Q3 2026.
The Somerset County Solar project builds upon GeoFire’s successful Red Lion Solar development in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, further expanding the company’s growing footprint of community solar assets across the Mid-Atlantic region. Like its predecessor, Somerset County Solar will provide affordable, clean energy to local households and businesses—offering guaranteed electricity bill savings through solar energy credits without the need for equipment installation.
“This marks another exciting milestone for GeoFire Solar,” said Zach Grabill, President of GeoFire Solar. “With each new project, we’re expanding access to clean energy while delivering stable, long-term value for our investors. The momentum across our portfolio underscores GeoFire’s commitment to sustainable growth and community impact.”
The Somerset County Solar facility will generate enough renewable energy to power approximately 500 homes annually, offsetting thousands of tons of carbon dioxide each year. The project supports Maryland’s clean energy and climate goals while providing tangible savings to residents—including low- to moderate-income households—through the state’s community solar framework.
GeoFire’s Continued Momentum
Recent acquisitions, including Red Lion Solar in Queen Anne’s County and Somerset County Solar, demonstrate the company’s accelerating progress toward its vision of building accessible, community-focused renewable energy solutions.
The Somerset County Solar project will become a key asset of the GeoFire 2025 Income Fund, LLC, a $50 million Regulation D, 506(c) offering designed to provide debt and equity investments in commercial-grade solar installations, battery storage systems, and EV charging infrastructure. The acquisition follows GeoFire’s Red Lion Solar project in Queen Anne’s County, further expanding the Fund’s portfolio of high-quality community solar developments across the Mid-Atlantic region.
